Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College soccer teams' four seniors – Lindsey Crowe, Dakota Jackson, Karina Siu and Valentina Viertel - were honored before playing their final intercollegiate home game. The seniors were given flowers and photos as a token of appreciation for what they have done on the team the last four years.
As for the game, the Yellow and White defeated visiting Moravian College in dramatic fashion, 1-0 in overtime.
During the first-half, both team battled in the midfield with the Greyhounds controlling the tempo of the game. They outshot Bryn Mawr 5-2 in the opening half but on two were on goal and sophomore goalie Aviva Kosansky turned them both away.
In the second-half, despite being outshot by Moravian 5-1, the Owls held strong with junior Marian Slocum and Siu holding down the defense. Once again, Kosansky was perfect stopping the trio of shots that made it to goal.
In the only overtime period, it took the Owls only a few moments to get the ball in their offensive side of the field. Sophomore Veronica Roux carried the ball towards the box from the left side of the field when she played it into the box. Junior Marcela Dorfsman-Hopkins ran to the ball as she jumped and got her foot on the ball and sent it past an outstretched Genevieve Chaleff.
The players on the field mobbed Dorfsman-Hopkins while the rest of the team met her at the top of the box to celebrate the win.
With the win, the Owls move to 2-13 on the season and snap a 13-game losing streak.
In addition to Dorfsman-Hopkins shot, sophomore Allegra Levy took two shots while classmate Nina Bertolami took the other.
Between the pipes, Kosansky posted five saves as she earned her first career shutout.
Bryn Mawr is back to action on Wednesday, Oct. 30, when they travel to rival Swarthmore for a 7:00 pm showdown with the Garnet.
