BRYN MAWR, PA – The Bryn Mawr outdoor track & field team turned in a busy and productive weekend, competing in a pair of meets as final preparation for the upcoming Centennial Conference Championships.
The weekend opened Friday at the prestigious Penn Relays, where the Owls' 4x100m relay team of
Awurabena Anane,
Mika Heshiki,
Jess Johnson, and
Shelbey Lu placed 16th with a time of 50.80. Bryn Mawr carried that momentum into Saturday's Blue Jay Tune-Up at Elizabethtown College, finishing fifth overall.
Penn Relays Highlights:
- Bryn Mawr's 4x100m relay quartet of Anane, Heshiki, Johnson, and Lu placed 16th, clocking a 50.80 finish against a competitive field.
Blue Jay Tune-Up Highlights:
- SPRINTS/HURDLES: Anane led the Owls in the 100m, placing eighth in the prelims with a season-best 13.48 before returning to take seventh in the final with the same time. Lu also competed in the prelims of the event, finishing 12th (13.92). In the 200m, Anane paced Bryn Mawr with a 10th-place finish (29.11), narrowly ahead of Lu in 11th (29.30), while Allie Lawson (14th, 30.61) and Kayla Spencer (18th, 30.89) rounded out the group. Spencer added a 15th-place finish in the 400m (1:09.71), followed by Phylicia Cannon in 16th (1:16.75). In the 400m hurdles, Heshiki delivered a standout performance, placing second in 1:13.40 to earn eight team points.
- DISTANCE: Cora Rosin posted a season-best time of 2:42.87 to place 10th in the 800m. In the 1500m, Eva Ackley led a strong Bryn Mawr showing with a third-place finish (5:19.68), followed closely by Rosa Carbon, who set a personal best (5:20.18) to take fourth. Emma Smirk also competed in the event (5:52.17). Mckayla Reyer added a fifth-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase (13:16.91).
- JUMPS: Johnson paced the Owls with a pair of runner-up finishes, clearing 1.48m in the high jump and reaching 10.38m in the triple jump to earn 16 total points. Molly Fancher added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (9.69m). In the long jump, Johnson again led the way with a fourth-place mark of 4.71m, while Fancher (7th, 4.50m) and Dahlia Nemes (8th, 4.49m) also scored.
- THROWS: Lauren Pritt capped the weekend with a personal-best throw of 20.66m in the javelin.
