Box Score Bryn Mawr welcomed Immaculata to Applebee Field for an afternoon Monday game in the rain. After a string of upsets, the Owls were due for a win. Paige Mastripolito scored two of the Owl's goals to help her team claim victory.
The game was off to a quick start, as both teams fought tooth and nail for the ball. Sarah Lohrey took a corner kick at 3:05, but her kick only continued the back and forth between the teams. The Mighty Macs eventually gained possession of the ball around the 10:45 mark. Immaculata took their shot, but it soared over the net. Just a few minutes later, the Mighty Macs were back with another shot, this time kicking the ball directly into the back of the net for the first goal of the game.
All looked like Immaculata would stay on the aggressive, but first-year Amanda Cruz took possession of the ball after an Immaculata foul. Looking to earn the first goal for her team, Cruz geared up, but her shot missed high. Again, the teams were touch and go with the ball, but around the 27:00-minute mark, a miracle occurred for the Owls.
Bryn Mawr had the opportunity to hit a penalty kick after a foul on Immaculata. Sophomore Sarah Lohrey took the penalty. Her shot whizzed past the head of Immaculata's goalie and Bryn Mawr scored their first goal in five games.
Bryn Mawr was now on fire. Senior Paige Mastripolito entered the game, subbing for Koren Woznicki. Less than a minute later, the senior made not just one, but two shots. However, both went high. The Owls maintained possession of the ball as Grace Floreck kicked the ball to Mastripolito who took her third shot of the day. Mastripolito's ball screamed straight into the net and the Owls earned their second goal of the game.
Just a few minutes later, Sarah Walker held possession of the ball. Passing the ball to first-year Daniela Dosen, Dosen shot the ball past the Mighty Mac's goalie and straight into the back of the net for Bryn Mawr's third goal. Bryn Mawr ended the half with a 3-1 lead.
The away team began the second half as the aggressors. Rachel McNamee made three of the four Immaculata shots in quick succession. However, none of Immaculata's shots resulted in a goal.
Around 51:00 minutes, it looked like Grace Floreck might make a run for it and score a goal for the Owls, but her shot was saved by the away team's goalie. Throughout the next 20-minutes Bryn Mawr took another four shots, but none came to fruition.
Bryn Mawr finally got the fourth goal in which they had been waiting around 73:11. Assisted by Cruz, Mastripolito's shot flew straight into the net, earning the senior her third goal of the season and second of the game.
Bryn Mawr wasn't done quite yet. Thanking her for a beautiful assist, Mastripolito passed the ball to teammate Cruz. Cruz ripped her shot, to claim the fifth goal for Bryn Mawr. In the last fifteen minutes of the game, Koren Woznicki made one final attempt for the Owls to grab an additional goal, but her shot was blocked by the goalie. After a few quiet games from Bryn Mawr, the Owls finally made a loud screech, claiming a 5-1 victory over the Mighty Macs.
The Owls will return to Applebee Field on Saturday for a conference game against Franklin & Marshall.
