Box Score The Owls competed in their second to last game of the fall season Tuesday evening at Swarthmore. Junior Emma Ryan helped to stave off an oppressive Garnet offense in her fifth debut of the season. Ryan made her third conference appearance, tallying nine saves. Seniors Paige Mastripolito and Koren Woznicki took five shots against the Garnets, but none managed to find their way into the net.
Swarthmore came out swinging in the first half, hitting two corner kicks and a shot attempt within the first five minutes of the game. However, the Owls defensive managed to keep the Garnets from scoring. Mastripolito looked to get the Owls on the scoreboard and hit a header at 7:39. Unfortunately, it went just wide. The Garnets maintained possession of the ball over the next ten minutes, but Ryan kept each shot from going into the net. Woznicki took her first shot of the game at 16:30, but a quick save by the Swarthmore goalkeeper kept the game tied at zero. A few seconds later, Sarah Lohrey took Bryn Mawr's lone corner kick of the game, but the Owls were unable to make a shot. The Garnet offense continued to maintain possession throughout the half, resulting in a three-goal lead for Swarthmore. First-year Carly Penn made one last attempt to get the Owls on the scoreboard before the end of the half, but her shot went wide.
Mastripolito came out with vengeance in the second half. Four minutes into the first half, the Owls brought the ball down to Mastripolito who made her second shot of the night. The shot was blocked, and seconds later she took another shot, but it went just wide. Ryan managed to save two of Swarthmore's shots until a shot came her way at 63:39, which the Owls goalkeeper was unable to handle. Swarthmore extended their lead to four. Ryan made an additional four saves over the next twenty minutes, but with six minutes remaining, Swarthmore scored one last time. The game ended with a final score of Bryn Mawr 0, Swarthmore 5.
The Owls will travel to Mary Washington this Saturday to wrap up their fall season.
