LANCASTER, PA – The Bryn Mawr track & field team brought their A-game to the Coach I Invitational held at Franklin and Marshall earlier Saturday. While all Owls put up strong performances, the day belonged to
Jess Johnson, who shattered her own school record in the triple jump and claimed first place. Senior
Lauren Kitay also impressed, securing 6th place in the 800m and 7th place in the 1 mile with standout efforts.
Highlights:
- Sprints/Hurdles: In her first meet back, Awurabena Anane ran a time of 8.37 to kick off the 60m dash. Not far behind with a season best time was Johnson at 8.43. Kayla Camille finished strong running 8.54 and Molly Fancher had a season best of 8.83. Autumn Williams completed her 60m dash with a 9.20 with teammate Dahliah Nemes running a season best at 8.94. Nethmi Dharmasena finished with a time of 9.90, while Lucy Sparks ran a season best of 10.57. In the 60m hurdles, Mika Heshiki charged to the finish with a 11.02 time with teammate Nemes close behind running 11.15. In the 200m, Anane took the lead in the last few meters to win her heat with a time of 27.94. In her first 200m of the season, Camille ran a 29.81, while Nemes finished in 30.09.
- Jumps: Johnson stole the show in the jumps, earning 1st place in the triple jump with a record-breaking leap of 10.91m. This is the third time Johnson has broken the school record this season. This mark also eclipsed her previous school record of 10.80m, set in December 2024, and moved her up to 41st in the Division III regional rankings performance list. Johnson also excelled in the high jump to secure 3rd place with a mark of 1.52m. Additionally, the junior claimed 6th place in the long jump with a leap of 4.88m. Heshiki competed in the pole vault for the second time this season and successfully cleared 2.58m on her third and final attempt. This vault qualified Heshiki for Centennial Conference Championships.
- Endurance: Senior Lauren Kitay started the day strong, clocking a personal record of 2:31.35 in the 800m for a 6th place finish. Teammates Eva Ackley (2:46.36), Cora Rosin (2:46.69), Phylicia Cannon (3:02.30) and Megan McDonald (2:47.36) fought close behind. Kitay shone once again in the mile, securing a 7th place finish with a season best time of 5:29.23 to qualify her for Centennial Conference Championships. Three other Owls joined Kitay in the mile. Mckayla Reyer
finished with a time of 6:38.03, Natasha Kwiatkowski had a season best performance of 6:05.54, and Emma Smirk was just shy off her personal best with a run of 6:23.12.
- Relays: Rounding out a long day of track & field, the Owls' 4 x 400m relay team consisted of Williams (1st leg), Kitay (2nd leg), Smirk (3rd leg), and Cannon (4th leg) who finished 11th overall with a time of 4:46.19.
