COLLEGEVILLE, PA- Bryn Mawr track and field kicked off their indoor season at the Bowtie Invitational, hosted by Ursinus College, on Saturday morning. The Owls opened the year with strong performances across multiple events, highlighted by
Jess Johnson sweeping the jumps and sophomores
Breia Vann-Crump and
Shelbey Lu earning personal bests in the sprints.
Highlights:
- SPRINTS/HURDLES: Vann-Crump made an impressive collegiate debut in the 60m, earning a 2nd place finish in 8.18. Lu joined her classmate in the event, taking 5th with a personal record of 8.70. In the 60m hurdles, Mika Heshiki raced to 2nd place in 10.01. Sophomores Dahlia Nemes and Nora Hunter both recorded personal bests in the 200m, running 29.87 and 31.59 respectively.
- THROWS: Lauren Pritt opened her sophomore season in the shot put, finishing with a mark of 6.12m.
- JUMPS: Johnson swept all three jumping events, winning the high jump (1.50m), long jump (4.99m), and triple jump (10.77m). Nemes joined Johnson in the long jump with a top-ten finish at 3.69m. Heshiki also delivered a strong performance, placing 4th in the pole vault with a height of 2.50m.
- DISTANCE: Sophomore Emma Smirk closed out the day in the 5000m, earning an 11th place finish in 22:12.56.
