Madeline Cohen (known as Maddie by her peers) displays strength and perseverance, weaving her passion for soccer with an architectural vision as a Growth and Structure of Cities major. Her senior thesis project seeks to enhance the campus experience for scholar-athletes and beyond.
Choosing Bryn Mawr was a holistic decision for Maddie, influenced by factors ranging from its location outside Philadelphia to its strong academics, stunning campus, and the allure of the soccer program. The sense of community at Bryn Mawr, evident from her first steps on campus, solidified her decision to call it home.
Maddie's senior thesis project embodies her plans to attend graduate school for Architecture and her dedication to merging academia and athletics. Focused on proposing a substantial addition to the Bern Schwartz Fitness and Athletic Center, Maddie aims to address spatial challenges and elevate the overall experience for the Bryn Mawr community, including scholar-athletes, students, and faculty.
Reflecting on her transformative journey at Bryn Mawr, Maddie acknowledges the pivotal role the college has played in shaping her identity, saying, "Bryn Mawr has helped me become the person I am today by challenging me to push myself in the classroom and on the field." The encouragement from teammates, coaches, professors, and friends has been instrumental in her growth. Maddie expresses great gratitude to the Growth and Structure of Cities Department here at Bryn Mawr College for providing "tremendous support" throughout her past four years. Additionally, she's grateful that the Bryn Mawr Athletic Department, her soccer team, coaches, and friends have all contributed to her enriching college experience.
