LANCASTER, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr indoor track and field program traveled to Franklin and Marshall to compete in the first day of the Centennial Conference Championships earlier Saturday morning. First-year Jessica Johnson continued to shine in an impressive first season with the Owls, claiming a new school record in the triple jump. Sophomore Colby Rossmassler also had a strong day in the first event of the Pentathlon while the relay teams would later record season bests.

Rossmassler opened the conference championships for the Owls in the first event of the Pentathlon. The sophomore began in the hurdles (11.86s) and soon followed with a 1.39m jump at the high jumps. Rossmassler also had a strong day in their new season events of the long jump (3.90m) and shot put (5.05m). They finished the event in eighth place with a score of 1402.
Over at the triple jump, Johnson opened her first attempt with a new school record (10.14m). This was just the start of an impressive run as Johnson set off a flurry of 10+m jumps. All in all, she jumped over the previous school record five times, finishing with a new record of 10.25m. Senior Margaret Hardigg also jumped 9.45m for a season best in the event.
Out on the track, Kayla Camille ran 8.62s in the 60m, while Eliza Lehman (20:15.99) continued to chip away at the 5k, setting her third personal record in that event for the season.

Individual events were not the only action on the track as three of the four relay teams also participated in the first day of champs. First up was the 4000 distance medley relay (Evelyn Fort, Phylicia Cannon, Sam Lyster, Marien Richardson) who ran a season best time of 14:48.46, while the 4x200 meter relay (Camille, Madeleine Yao, Lucy Sparks, Richardson) ran a time of 2:05.43, their second best of the season. Rounding out the relays was the 4x800 meter relay group (Sofi Guven, Sophie Prieto, Lukabed Bati, Evelyn Cheng) who ran a time of 10:34.08 for their best time of the season.

"I knew this team was ready for a great weekend, but this was an excellent day one for us," said Owls' head coach Jason Hewitt. "I can't wait to see what we're capable of tomorrow, but we're certainly off to a good start!"

The Owls will return bright and early on Sunday morning to compete in the second day of the Centennial Conference Championships.
