LANCASTER, PA- Following a historic performance at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships from February 28-March 1,
Jess Johnson was named First Team All-Centennial, becoming the first Owl to earn first team honors since 2020, when both Kass Wojcik and Jennica Terry achieved the distinction.
Johnson's selection comes on the heels of a phenomenal weekend that further cemented her place in program history. At the conference championships, the senior soared in the triple jump event, hitting a mark of 10.87m to secure gold and etch her name atop the podium. The mark not only earned her the conference crown but solidified her status as one of the premier jumpers in the conference.
Johnson's dominance throughout the season made the honor a fitting one. Johnson was previously ranked third in the Metro Region in the indoor long jump by the USTFCCCA earlier in her career and has consistently delivered on the championship stage. She rewrote the Bryn Mawr record books in 2023 with a 5.21-meter leap in the indoor long jump at the TCNJ Indoor Open and has continued to build on that momentum ever since.
During the 2025 outdoor season, Johnson helped break the 4x100m relay school record (49.10) on May 4 and was named Bryn Mawr Indoor Track and Field's Most Valuable Player for the 2024-25 season. A Ray Tharan Award recipient and a member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, Johnson exemplifies excellence both on the runway and in the classroom.
Head coach Haley Markos spoke on the impact Jess continues to make on the program:
"Aside from Jess' standout athletic performances, Jess is a phenomenal person. Receiving this honor is the cherry on top to an outstanding Bryn Mawr career, and there's no better person to pave the way for what our program is capable of than Jess."
Assistant Coach
Jack Stalcup added to coach Markos' statement saying:
"Jess is an all around great athlete and student! Everything Jess does is exemplary to what Bryn Mawr College stands for and what the future holds for the Owls! Academically, Johnson is always on top of assignments. On our team, Jess always brings her maximum effort to training and practices."
The senior captain's First Team All-Centennial recognition not only reflects a standout championship performance but also marks a milestone moment for the program — the first Owl in six years to claim a spot on the conference's top squad.
With every jump, Johnson continues to raise the bar — and the legacy — for Bryn Mawr track and field.
