BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Bryn Mawr tennis welcomed Swarthmore to campus earlier Friday afternoon for a faceoff against their Centennial Conference foes. Coming off of a big midweek win earlier this week, Bryn Mawr put on another strong performance today against one of the top teams in the region. However, the Owls had to fight through the tough circumstance of being down a player, and that plus some good play from the Garnet helped the visitors roll to a 9-0 win on the day.

The Garnet picked up the walkover win at third doubles due to the Owls being down a player on the day, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage before the matches had even started. Bryn Mawr didn't let that get them down though. Wynn Bryant and Kelly Cole fought hard in their first doubles matchup but were forced to take an 8-0 loss despite their efforts. At second doubles, Lowrey West and Lilly Pfister frustrated their opponents at times thanks to some great effort and smart shots. West and Pfister were able to win a couple games in their matchup, but ultimately lost 8-2 to their Garnet opponents.

In singles, Bryn Mawr continued to battle, but it was always going to be a challenge for the Owls in going up against one of the top teams in the conference and region. The Garnet picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at first, second, fourth, and fifth singles on the afternoon, and also grabbed another walkover win at sixth singles. West would have the most success of the day on the scorecard in her matchup at third singles, winning a game in the first set and a couple more in the second set in a 6-1, 6-2 loss.

Bryn Mawr will look to rebound when they get right back in action tomorrow at home. The Owls will welcome Dickinson to campus on Saturday afternoon, with that match slated for a 12:00 PM start.
