Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Owls traveled to Collegeville, Pa. for an evening match against Ursinus seeking to put another win on their record. Bryn Mawr continued to rack up aces, hitting eight services aces during Wednesday's match.
Bryn Mawr was off to an early lead in the first set, winning six of the first eight points to take a 6-2 lead, assisted by kills from Elise Perry and Zoe Boxill. However, the Bears quickly evened the match with four consecutive points of their own. The Bears again extended their lead midway through the set with a string of five points (8-12). The Owls fought back and won the next two points after a service ace by Orli McGuire-Berk, but Ursinus followed it up with another long streak of eight consecutive points (10-20). Bryn Mawr won the next three of four points, one of which was a kill by Micah Sheppard. However, the Bears won the next two to maintain a 10-point lead. First-year Elise Perry attempted to rally the Owls with a kill and two service aces, but her effort was not enough to bring the Owls out of their hole. Muhlenberg won the next two points to finish the set (16-25).
The Owls were again off to an early start. First-years Sheppard and Perry each hit a kill to help their team take an early 5-2 lead. However, Ursinus returned the favor and hit kills to win the next three points. Bryn Mawr and Ursinus continued to play a tight match with each team winning strings of three points until the two were locked at 15-15. The Bears jumped out to a 18-15 lead and took poised to win the set shortly thereafter. Down 19-22, Bryn Mawr came roaring back with five straight points to give themselves a two-point lead and a set point. The Owls couldn't close out the set and after a brief back and forth, the Bears claimed it 27-29.
The home team started off stronger than they had in the first two sets. The two teams kept a tight score, trading early points until the score was tied at 4-4. They continued to trade points, but Ursinus soon took a two-point lead at 9-11. However, the Owls won the next three points, one of which was a kill by Elise Perry. Both teams continued to fight for the lead until Ursinus played a string of great points to take a five-point lead at 14-19. The Owls only managed to win one more point, before the Bears ultimately won the third and final set 15-25.
