BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Owls tennis team kicked off their fall campaign on Saturday afternoon at home with a matchup against Rutgers-Camden. The Owls bring plenty of fresh faces to the courts this year, and espite the youth, Bryn Mawr showed plenty of promise on the day. However, the team came up just short in the final scoreline, as Rutgers-Camden came away with a 6-3 win on the day.

The Scarlet Raptors were able to pick up key wins at first and third doubles against Wynn Bryant/Lily Randolph and Lilly Pfister/Kelly Cole to take an early advantage on the day, but the first-year duo of Fernanda Hurtado and Lowrey West got Bryn Mawr on the scoresheet with a big 8-5 win of their own at second doubles.

In singles, the youth movement continued, as both West and fellow first-year Pfister came away with big wins. West won her first set at fourth singles in dominating 6-1 fashion, but then fell 6-2 in the second frame. However, she showed impressive mettle, battling back to win the deciding set 6-1 to take her match. Pfister also gutted out an impressive three set victory, as the came back from losing the first set to win her next two frames 6-0, 6-0 and claim the win. Unfortunately, those would be the lone singles wins on the night for the Owls, and ultimately Rutgers-Camden was able to preserve their undefeated record and take the 6-3 win.

Bryn Mawr will be right back in action on Friday as they hit the road for a road matchup at Immaculata. Match time for that non-conference tilt is set for 3:30 PM.
