LANCASTER, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr tennis team continued their busy week earlier Friday afternoon at Franklin & Marshall. The Owls played some more really solid tennis on the day, but ultimately were unable to come away with the win against the Diplomats, who held serve on their home court with an 8-1 win on the day. Lizzie Siegle picked up the lone win for the Owls with a great 6-2, 6-2 decision.
Siegle's win in singles came after some tough times in doubles for the Owls, as the visitors fell in all three of those matches. However, each Bryn Mawr pairing found some success in their matches, as they all took at least three games in their matches. Siegle and Melina Koukoutchos had the most success, taking four games from their opponents at first singles.
Bryn Mawr earned their first and only win of the afternoon through Siegle at second singles. However, once again there were plenty of positives. Going against one of the tougher teams in the Centennial Conference, the Owls took games at five out of the six singles matches. At third singles, Kendall Baller came back from a tough opening set to go the distance in the second. Baller forced a tiebreak at 6-all in that set, but came up just short by a 7-3 mark in that tiebreak. At the top singles spot, Koukoutchos took a pair of games in each set in her tough match against Nicole Russo. Molly MacDougall, Em Prozinski, and Rosa Nanasi Haas each also found some bright spots in their own matches.
The Owls will continue their busy weekend with just one day off, getting right back in action on Sunday with another road match. Bryn Mawr will travel to Carlisle for a late-morning match at Dickinson on Sunday, with the contest slated to start at 11:00 AM.
