Owls Close Out Road Trip at Gettysburg

Gettysburg, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr tennis team closed out a busy weekend of action earlier Sunday afternoon with a match against Gettysburg College. Playing their third contest in three days, the Owls battled hard but didn't quite have enough in the tank to pull off the victory, ultimately losing by a 6-3 scoreline.

Highlighting the day for the Owls (1-12, 0-6 Cent.) was Lizzie Siegle, who went 2-0 on the afternoon. In doubles, Siegle paired with Koukoutchos on the day to earn Bryn Mawr a big point. The pairing picked up an awesome win, hanging on to outduel the Gettysburg (6-8, 2-6 Cent.) first doubles team by a score of 8-6. The Bullets did hold on to take the other two doubles contests by scores of 9-7 and 8-6 to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.

Siegle doubled up on her output by taking the second singles match against Gettysburg's Lindsay Morris. The freshman was dominant in her efforts, ultimately only losing one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Also picking up a big victory in singles today was Eram Haider. After a tough 3-6 loss in the opening set, Haider bounced back in a big way, earning the victory with 6-4 wins in both the second and third sets.

Koukoutchos got off to a great start at first singles, winning the first frame 6-1. However, she had the favor returned to her in the second and third sets, ultimately falling by a score of 1-6, 6-1, 6-1. Kendall Baller and Mariam Haider both fell in straight sets at third and fourth singles. At the fifth spot, Jennifer Laske played a marathon match of her own. She lost 6-3 in the first set, but earned a big 7-6 win in the second thanks to a 7-5 win in the tiebreak. However, Laske could not hold on in the end, falling in the final tiebreak by a score of 10-5.

The Owls will finally get a day off tomorrow before leaping right back into action on Tuesday. Bryn Mawr will host Washington College on the Bryn Mawr tennis courts, with the match slated to start at 4:00 PM.
