BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Sophomore Melina Koukoutchos posted a pair of wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 4 singles, but it wasn't' enough as the Owls fell to Gettysburg College in a hard-fought match, 6-3, Saturday afternoon.
Koukoutchos teamed up with classmate Kendall Baller in doubles as the pair cruised to an 8-4 win over Holly Johnson and Sother Steer. In singles play, Koukoutchos took care of business as she downed Lindsay Morris in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1,
Also earning a win for the Owls was senior Jenny Vogel. Playing in the No. 2 single slot, Vogel jumped out early on Laura Gradiska 6-4 in the first set before falling in the second 0-6. However, in the tie-break set, Vogel earned the 10-3 point to earn her first individual conference win of the season.
In other singles play, senior Vivien Chen fell in a tight match to Anastasia Mogilevski 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, from the No.1 spot. In the third slot, senior Eliza Perocchi fell 6-0, 6-2, while Baller fell in the No. 5 spot 6-3, 6-1. In the sixth position, sophomore Tirsa Delate fell to Gillian Minnerly 6-4, 6-3.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Chen and Perocchi lost their match 8-3 to Mogilevski/Isabelle Rodriguez, while the second doubles duo of freshman Eram Haider and Vogel fell 8-3 to Gradiska/Morris.
Bryn Mawr will travel to Haverford on Wednesday, March 26, for a 4:00 pm match with the Fords.
