BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Catherine Austin picked-up Bryn Mawr's only win on the afternoon as the Owls fell to Moravian 8-1 in non-league action Saturday afternoon.
Austin's win came from the 5th singles position as her showdown went three games. Austin fell to Erica Venuti in the first game 4-6, before winning the second 6-1. In the third set tie breaker, Austin downed Venuti 10-6.
The greyhounds took an early 3-0 lead by sweeping doubles play. The No. 1 duo of seniors Vivien Chen and Eliza Perocchi fell 8-5 in the No. 1 spot as Austin and classmate Jenny Vogel were downed 8-2 from the No. 2 spot. In the third position, sophomore's Tirsa Delate and Molly MacDougall lost to Julia Atiyeh and Selina Ocasio 8-3.
In singles play, Chen fell 6-2, 6-0, in the top position while Vogel lost her No. 2 bout 6-1, 6-0. Perocchi lost her No. 3 match-up 6-3, 6-0, while sophomore Chloe Barron dropped her match with Ocasio 6-4, 6-2. In the sixth position, Delate fell 6-0, 6-1.
The Owls are back on the courts when they host Neumann on Monday, Sept. 30, at 4:00 pm.
