Tennis Falls to Dickinson 9-0

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College tennis team was swept by the visiting Dickinson College Red Devils 9-0 Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.

The best match in doubles came from the No. 2 position. The freshman tandem of Kendall Baller and Melina Koukoutchos didn't win their match, but made it hard on Madeline Altholtz and Dominque Hedderick, who eventually won 8-5.

In the No. 1 spot was junior classmates Catherine Austin and Jenny Vogel, they were defeated by Shannon Lavery and Alysia Rodgers while the No. 3 duo of freshman Amelia Arnold and sophomore Rachel Genovese fell 8-1.

In singles action, after falling in the opening set 6-3, Austin gave Ilana Unger a run in the second set before falling 7-5 from the fourth spot. In The top spot, Vogel fell 6-2, 6-1, to Rodgers while Koukoutchos lost her no. 2 match 6-1, 6-2, to Lavery.

From the third position, Baller fell 6-1, 6-0, while classmate Tirsa Delate was defeated by Altholtz 6-1, 6-0. In the No. 6 position, Arnold was downed 6-2, 6-2, by Cantor.

The tennis team returns to action when they take on Washington College on Tuesday, April 9, at 4:00 pm on the BMC Tennis Courts.
