BALTIMORE, Md. – The #4 ranked Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays shutout Bryn Mawr, 9-0, Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
The only doubles tandem to record a point against Hopkins was the No. 1 duo of junior Vivien Chen and Jenny Vogel. Despite losing their match 8-1, the top doubles team was able to sneak out one point before Abby Clark and Stephanie Rettig claimed the victory.
In other doubles action, the No. 2 team of freshman Kendall Baller and sophomore Rachel Genovese fell 8-0 to Andrea Berlinghof and Olivia Kasten while the No.3 duo of freshmen Amelia Arnold and Priyamvada Golcha also fell 8-0 to Lauren Fields and Kara McDonough.
In singles play, Chen fell in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, while Vogel claimed a pair of points but eventually lost 6-0, 6-2. In the third spot, freshman Melina Koukoutchos fell too Ariel Several 6-1, 6-2, while Baller fell 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth spot. Freshman Tirsa Delate, playing in the fifth spot lost her match to Kasten 6-0, 6-0, and Arnold fell in the sixth position 6-1, 6-0, to McDonough.
The Owls return to action in one week when they play host to Dickinson College on Saturday, April 6, at 1:00 pm.
