Haverford Tops Tennis 9-0 in Conference Opener

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College tennis suffered their first setback of the spring season as they fell to rival Haverford 9-0 in Centennial Conference action Friday afternoon.

Junior Catherine Austin teamed-up with freshman Melina Koukoutchos at No. 2 doubles, but were banked 8-0 while the No.3 duo of freshman Kendall Baller and sophomore Rachel Genovese fell 8-1.

During singles play, No. 1 Chen fell to Gallagher 6-1, 6-3 before Vogel lost her number two bout 6-2, 6-0. Playing in third singles, Koukoutchos fell 6-0, 6-1, to Robyn Himelstein while Baller was blanked by Celia Tong 6-0, 6-0. In the fifth spot, Austin fell 6-2, 6-4, to Alyssa Lavin while freshman Tirsa Delate fell 6-1, 6-0.
