Box Score 3 BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College volleyball team went 2-1 at the annual Bryn Athyn quad match. The Owls opened the day by falling to Goucher 3-1, before displacing St. Elizabeth and host Bryn Athyn 3-0.
In the day's opening match against the Gophers, the freshmen tandem of Rachel Ofili (pictured, left) and Noemi Moreno combined for 25 kills. The Gophers took the first two sets 28-26, 25-16, before BMC bounced back with a 25-18 third set win. The fourth set was won by Goucher 25-20.
Ofili posted a game-best 13 while Moreno added 12. Sophomore Danielle Preziuso handed out 32 assists while freshman Zoe Holman posted 13 digs and sophomore Ellen Chiu added 10 digs. Sophomore Avary Taylor had a pair of block assists while freshman Sarah Gates (pictured, right) posted one solo block.
In the match with St. Elizabeth's, the Owls downed the Screaming Eagles 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-16). Leading the way for Bryn Mawr was Moreno with eight kills while Gates added seven and Ofili contributing seven. Preziuso dished-out 26 assists and Holman tallied 12 digs. Ofili posted two solo blocks.
In the day's final showdown, the Owls defeated the host Lions 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-17). Ofili led the Owls' attack with seven kills and Gates with five. Preziuso tallied a game-best 20 assist while Holman totaled 10 digs. Chiu and Ofili tallied two block assists.
The Owls are now 3-2 on the season. They return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 12, when they host Arcadia in the season home-opener at 7:00 pm.
