BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr volleyball team picked up its first win of the season, defeating Delaware Valley University, 3-0, inside the Class of 1958 Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
 
Highlights:

• Bryn Mawr (1-3) and Delaware Valley (1-4) battled back-and-forth in the early goings of the match as the Owls took a 5-3 lead to start the set. The Aggies posted the first run of the night, going on a 6-1 run to take the momentum. Kills from Abigail Quigley and Tula Reihman helped BMC to close the gap and level the contest at 11-11. Another run from DelVal put the visitors ahead before Bryn Mawr managed to once again halt its opponent's momentum.
• Down 23-20 in the first set, a kill and an ace from Quigley tied the frame at 23 apiece. Extra volleyball would be required in the opening set as Emma Loller tied the game at 25-25 before a pair of attack errors from the Aggies gave Bryn Mawr the win in the first set.
• It was a battle of early runs in the second frame as both sides rattled off four straight points. The Owls and the Aggies went nearly point-for-point until reaching a 14-14 score. Quigley kicked started a five-point run for BMC that saw an ace from Lucy Divis.  The Owls held off the Aggies comeback attempt to take a two-set lead with a 25-20 win in the frame.
• More back-and-forth action started the third set before a kill from Lollar started a 6-1 run that had aces from Quigley and Peyton Phan. The Owls held off DelVal for much of the set before away even further on a five-point run that saw kills from Adelaide Grace and Loller. The Aggies managed to close the gap before the comeback bid proved to be too-little, too-late as Bryn Mawr picked up the sweep at home.
• Divis lead the team with nine kills while tallying 11 digs. Loller and Quigley followed closely behind with eight kills apiece. Charlotte Mullen recorded a career-high 33 assists.

 
Volleyball heads on the road on September 11 as they take on Alvernia in a 6 p.m. bout on Friday night.
