SWARTHMORE, Pa.– Senior Zoe Odenwalder posted Bryn Mawr's only win as host Swarthmore defeated the Owls 8-1 in Centennial Conference tennis action Friday afternoon.
At the No. 6 singles spot, Odenwalder opened her match with Gayatri Iyengar with a 6-1 win before rolling cruising to a 6-3 second set win. The win is Odenwalder's 8th of the season and third straight.
In other singles play, No. 1 senior Anna Perocchi was blanked by Lia Carlson 6-0, 6-0, while No.2 sophomore Vivien Chen was downed 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (4). In the third position, sophomore Eliza Perocchi fell 6-0, 6-1, while senior Jenny Vogel dropped her match, 6-1, 6-0. Playing in the fifth slot, sophomore Catherine Austin was defeated by Stephanie Chia 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, the No. 1 tandem of the Perocchi sisters fell 8-3, as well did the No. 3 duo of Odenwalder and Austin. The No. 2 team of Chen and Vogel were downed 8-4 by Chia and Kelsey Johnson.
Tonight's match kicks-off a busy weekend for the Owls. They are in action tomorrow when they travel to Franklin and Marshall for a 1:00 pm contest with the Diplomats before returning home on Sunday to face off Johns Hopkins at 1:00 pm.
