BRYN MAWR, Pa.– After falling on the road to Dickinson 1-8 on Saturday, the Bryn Mawr College tennis team returned home and turned the tide Sunday as they defeated visiting McDaniel College 8-1 in Centennial Conference action.
Bryn Mawr emerged from doubles action holding a 2-1 lead over the Green Terror. Pacing the Owls with an 8-3 decision was the No. 3 tandem of Catherine Austin and Zoe Odenwalder. Also claiming vectoring in doubles was the No. 1 duo of Vivien Chen and Anna Perocchi. They downed Carissa Grove and Brittany Starlings 8-4 to give Bryn Mawr the upper hand heading into singles.
Shutting out her opened in singles play was No. 6 Odenwalder as she claimed a 6-0, 6-0, victory over Lauren Lewis. In the top spot, A. Perocchi shutout Starlings in the opening set 6-0, before serving up a 6-2 second set win for the victory.
At No. 2, Chen downed Grove 6-1, 6-4, while Eliza Perocchi claimed victory over Devan Hamric, 6-1, 6-2. Jenny Vogel, playing the No. 4 slot, cruised past Kiersten Patron 6-1, 6-4, as Elizabeth Olecki had her hands full with Laura Pollard as she edged out a 7-6 (6) first set win before rolling 6-1 in the second.
Bryn Mawr is back to action when they travel to Washington College on Tuesday, April 3, for a 3:30pm showdown with the Shorewomen.
