CARLISLE, Pa. – Melanie Shafer produced Bryn Mawr's lone victory of the day when she defeated Ilana Unger Saturday afternoon as the Owls visited Dickinson College In Centennial Conference action.
Shafer defeated Unger 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) from the No. 5 singles position. The win is Shafer's second of the season. Her previous win came from the same position when she defeated Rosemont's Kayla Caod.
In other singles action, Bryn Mawr's top player, Anna Perocchi, lost 6-1, 6-1, while #2 Eliza Perocchi dropped her match 1-8. From the third position, Jenny Vogel lost to Brittany Zoll 3-6, 1-6. In the fourth position, Elizabeth Olecki was blanked 8-0 by Leigh Oczkowski and No. 6 Zoe Odenwalder dropped her bout 5-8.
In double play, the No.1 tandem of A. Perocchi and Vivien Chen fell 4-8 while the No. 2 duo of E. Perocchi and Vogel were downed 1-8. In the third doubles match, Catherine Austin and Odenwalder were defeated 8-4 by Madeline Altholtz and Dominique Hedderich .
Bryn Mawr is back in action when they visiting Washington College on Tuesday, April 3, for a 4:00 pm contest.
