BRYN MAWR, Pa.– The Bryn Mawr College tennis team fell to visiting Muhlenberg, 6-3, Friday afternoon in Centennial Conference action on the Main Line.
In doubles action, the No. 2 duo of Eliza Perocchi and Jenny Vogel defeated Sharen Resnikoff and Amanda von Traube 8-3. The No. 3 tandem of Catherine Austin and Zoe Odenwalder found themselves in an early 6-1 hole, but fought back to pull within two, 7-5. But in the 13th set of the match, the Muhlenberg team edged-out the win, 8-5.
The No. 1 team of Viven Chen and Anna Perocchi were unable to hold off the hot hitting duo of Nina Sanders and Emily Szulman as the Mules cruised to the 8-2 victory.
Singles action produced a pair of Bryn Mawr Victories coming at the No.1 and No.6 slots. In the top spot, A. Perocchi held-off Nina Sanders 7-5, 7-5, to claim her third singles win of the spring season. At the other end of the spectrum, No. 6 player, Odenwalder, picked-up her fourth win of the season as she defeated Ashlee Ludwig handily, 6-3, 6-1.
In other singles action, No. 2 Chen fell to Szulman 2-6, 1-6, while E. Perocchi dropped her No. 3 match to Jennifer Goldberg 3-6, 0-6. In the fourth spot, Elizabeth Olecki was defeated 6-1, 6-2, by Resnikoff as Melani Shafer lost her No. 5 match to von Taube 5-7, 4-6.
Today's game kicked-off a busy weekend for the Owls as they host Johns Hopkins on Saturday, March 24, at 1:00 pm, and McDaniel on Sunday, March 25, at 3:30 pm.
