IMMACULATA, Pa. – Freshmen Rachel Genovese and Alyssa Young earned the first wins of their short intercollegiate career as the Bryn Mawr College tennis team blanked Immaculata 9-0 Saturday afternoon.
In her second match of the season, Genovese earned a 7-5, 6-0, win over Pattie McGinley from the 6th singles spot to earn her first victory as an Owl.
Young teamed up with sophomore Sarah Gilmour in the No. 3 doubles position to roll past Olivia Kauffman and McGinley, for both players first career win.
Bryn Mawr took an early 3-0 lead following doubles action when the sister duo of senior Anna Perocchi and Eliza Perocchi won their No. 1 doubles match 8-4. From the No. 2 slot, classmates Vivien Chen and Jenny Vogel blanked Julie Einwechter and Molly Greco 8-0.
In singles action, Anna Perocchi shutout Felicia Thomas 6-0, 6-0, from the top spot. Eliza Perocchi downed Theresa Martini 6-2, 6-1, and Chen won in the third position 6-2, 6-0.
Playing No. 5 singles, Vogel cruised to a 6-2, 6-0, victory and senior Elizabeth Olecki cruised to a 6-0, 6-0, straight set win over Kauffman.
The owls are back to action on Monday, Sept. 26, when they travel across town to take on Rosemont at 4:00 pm.
