COLLEGEVILLE, PA. – The Bryn Mawr track & field team competed Friday afternoon for Day One of the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival. This was the first time in Bryn Mawr's Track & Field history that all three Owls ran under 20 minutes on the same day.
Highlights:
- Jumps: Jess Johnson became the first Owl of the day to qualify for the Centennial Conference Champs, jumping 4.48m and finishing 8th. Alex deLeuze had a near miss on the qualifying mark but set a new Outdoor PR (4.10m). Colby Rossmassler set a new Outdoor PR of 1.35m, and Johnson set a new PR of 1.50m.
- Throws: Nora Steil improved her season opener discus attempts by throwing 25.91m in the event. This marks her current season best, just off her PR and the Centennial Conference qualifying mark. Steil doubled back in the Shot Put, setting a season best of 8.86m and finishing in 11th place.
- Endurance: Caroline Robertson led the charge for the Owls in the 1500m, leading her heat from the start to the finish. Robertson clocked a new PR 5:11, earned the heat win, and finished 8th overall. First-years Cora Rosin (5:30), Sally Jamrog (5:40), and Mckayla Reyer (6:13) all set PRs in the event as well. Not to be outdone by their mid-distance counterparts, Lauren Kitay (19:43), Evelyn Cheng (19:49), and Luka Bati (19:58) took the 5k with a strong opening and finished just as well. Kitay set a season-best, while Cheng and Bati earned new PRs. The trio also finished 7th, 8th, and 9th, respectively. This is the first time in Bryn Mawr's Track & Field history that three members of the Owls team all ran under 20 minutes on the same day. Kitay, Cheng, and Bati qualified for the Centennial Conference Championships.
The Owls will return tomorrow morning, April 6th, for day two of the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival.
