ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – The Owls had a strong day in their last regular performance before Centennial Conference Championships at the Blue Jay Tune-Up earlier Saturday. Overall, the Owls finished sixth out of 14 teams, beating out conference opponent McDaniel.
Highlights:
- Sprints: First-year Awurabena Anane reached the finals in the 100m dash to set a collegiate personal record with a time of 13.22s. She doubled back in the 200m dash for another collegiate PR in a time of 28.44s. Anane's 100m dash time improves her qualifying mark for the Centennial Conference Championships.
- Jumps: At high jump, Jess Johnson finished fourth overall to clear a height of 1.47m. Colby Rossmassler set an outdoor PR with a mark of 1.37m and Molly Fancher cleared 1.27m for a PR as well. The trio moved on to long jump, where Fancher finished second with a new PR of 4.90m. Johnson finished fifth, and Rossmassler earned an outdoor PR of 4.00m. Johnson and Fancher returned to the sand in the afternoon, where Johnson jumped 10.42m for a season best and second place finish. Fancher was close behind with a fifth place finish and a new PR of 10.00m.
- Throws: Nora Steil threw 29.32m in the discus throw to earn a qualifying mark for the Centennial Conference Championships and set a new PR by almost 3m.
- Endurance: The distance crew capped off the regular season with another impressive showing. Senior Evelyn Cheng led the 5k from start to finish to garner both the win and a new PR with a time of 19:20. In the 1500m, Lauren Kitay finished fourth overall, while Caroline Robertson (5:10), Ellie Schumacher (5:15), Cora Rosin (5:18), Sally Jamrog (5:36), and Mckayla Reyer (5:58) all set PRs. Malin Just finished fourth in the 800m, just a second behind her PR.
The Owls will travel to Muhlenberg next Friday to compete in the Centennial Conference Championships.
