Box Score Bryn Mawr, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr lacrosse team was back in action on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, with the Owls making a short trip down the road to Haverford. Although Bryn Mawr had a couple great chances throughout the game, it was the Fords who came away with a big 18-0 win on the day. Freshman goalkeeper Ana Kyrcz made the first start of her career and made three saves in the effort.
Haverford (8-5, 3-2 Cent.) got out in front early in today's contest, scoring their first goal of the game just 1:20 into play. The hosts would extend their lead over the next six minutes, going up 6-0 with 23:00 left to play in the half. However, Bryn Mawr (3-10, 0-7 Cent.) would manage to slow things down over the next few minutes. Senior Ashley Arbuckle collected the next draw control for the Owls, and the team looked to get their first offensive possession going. Ultimately, the ball ended up on the stick of Georgina Dominique, and she was able to get a shot off towards the cage. However, Haverford's Megan Chenworth made the save, and that closed the book on that offensive attack for the Owls.
The Fords potent offense would reignite through the rest of the half, with the hosts ultimately taking a 13-0 lead into the halftime break. In fact, Bryn Mawr would not get another shot on the cage until there was under a minute left in the contest, but it was a great look. After Haverford won a draw and worked the ball into the offensive zone, Dominique caused a turnover and picked up the ground ball. The Owls were able to clear their end and get upfield, and with just over 30 seconds left to go, the ball made its way to Fiona Steele. The talented freshman laced a shot towards the cage, but it was just a touch too high. The ball caromed off the crossbar, and that closed the book on a tough offensive day for the Owls.
With the loss, Bryn Mawr slips to 3-10 on the season and are still in search of their first league win. They'll look to snap their recent losing streak when they hit the road once again on Tuesday for a game at Cedar Crest. The Falcons lost their first seven games to open the season, but finally got in the win column last week with a victory over Keystone College. Tuesday's game is slated to start at 4:00 PM in Allentown.
