BRYN MAWR, PA – Bryn Mawr lacrosse dropped a 17-3 decision to visiting Manhattanville University on Wednesday afternoon at Applebee Field. Despite the result, the Owls showed resilience on the defensive end, highlighted by a nine-save performance from goalkeeper Meg Halpern and a four-caused turnover effort from Maeve DeLisle.
How it Happened
- The opening quarter was competitive early, with both teams battling for possession. Manhattanville broke through first with a player-up goal at 4:34 and added another at 3:19 to take a 2–0 lead. DeLisle responded for the Owls at 2:58 to cut into the deficit, but the Valiants answered once more to close the quarter ahead, 3-1.
- Manhattanville found its rhythm in the second quarter, scoring five unanswered goals to extend the lead to 8-1. Bryn Mawr's defense, anchored by Halpern, came up with key stops but struggled to convert possessions into clear opportunities.
- The Valiants continued to build momentum in the third, outscoring the Owls 4–1 in the frame. Olivia Terry netted her fourth goal of the season at 11:59, while DeLisle added impact plays on the defensive end with a caused turnover and ground ball. Brynn Cunningham also contributed in goal with several strong saves. Manhattanville carried a 12-2 lead into the final quarter.
- In the fourth, Manhattanville maintained pressure on both ends of the field, opening with another player-up goal. Erica James recorded a key save midway through the period, and Elliott Bishop found the back of the net at 8:50 off an assist from Shannon Gonzalez. The Valiants added two late goals to secure the 17-3 final.
