Lacrosse Scores 16-1 Victory over Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa.  –Senior Kathleen Magner scored a game-high six goals as the Owls defeated Lancaster Biblical College 16-1 Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.

Freshman Diana Kelley got the Owls on the board first as classmate Alison Spain fed her the ball just over three and a half minutes into the game. Magner scored her first goal four minutes later with an unassisted tally.

Junior Ashton Dwyer, Magner and sophomore Georgina Dominique recorded goals two minutes apart as the Owls took the 5-0 lead with 16:49 left in the half. Junior Zoe Fisher scored her only goal of the game at 7:02 before back-to-back goals from sophomore Claire Johnson pushed Bryn Mawr's lead to eight, 8-0. Dwyer assisted on both of Johnson's goals which were separated by 27-seconds.

Dominique scored Bryn Mawr's 9th goal of the half at 3:40. The Owls held on and took their 9-0 lead into the half.

Coming out of halftime, Magner scored a pair of unassisted goals separated by just over a minute. Dominque added to the Owls' lead as she went between the pipes at 24:43. At 22:16, Magner scored her fifth tally of the game with help from Dominique before added another unassisted goal two minutes later.

Johnson scored her third goal of the game at 11:55 as the Owls' led was pushed to 15-0.

Bryn Mawr looked to be en route to their first shutout since 2011 when the Owls blanked Saint Elizabeth's 19-0. However, Lancaster Bible's Emily Martz got the chargers on the board with 2:51 with an unassisted goal.

Spain wrapped-up the game's scoring with her own unassisted goal with 22 seconds remaining in the game.

In addition to her six goals, Magner recorded seven ground balls and six draws while Johnson tallied four ground balls and draws. Magner and Dominique each had three caused turnovers. Freshman goalie Katie Alpert turned away five shots to earn her third win of the season.

Bryn Mawr is back to the pitch when they travel to Dickinson on Saturday, March 22, for a 1:00 pm contest with the Red Devils.
