Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa.– Senior Natalie Chrismer and sophomore Kathleen Magner combined to score seven of Bryn Mawr's 17 goals as the Owls defeated visiting Cedar Crest, 17-8, Thursday night in non-league action.
It took the Owls only thirty-seconds to get on the board when Magner recorded her first goal of the game. Just over a minute later, Chrismer tallied her seventh goal of the season to give Bryn Mawr an early 2-0 lead.
Bryn Mawr tacked on four more goals over the a span of three minutes with Magner netting two, while Chrismer and classmate Mae Carlson added the other two.
Cedar Crest got on the board with 23:33 on the clock when Tara Fikes scored an unassisted goal. Kensie Bickart added another just under a minute later to cut their deficit to four, 2-6.
The Owls ended the first-half by scoring eight unanswered goals to take a commanding 14-2 advantage into the half. Senior classmates Miranda Gordon-Zigel and Emily Levine scored two goals each while Chrismer, freshman Zoe Fisher, sophomore Lee McClenon and Magner added the other four. Magner added a pair of assists while Gordon-Zigel dished out one assist.
Cedar Crest's Becca Lowe started the scoring in the second-half with a free position goal at 28:03. Carlson answered with an unassisted goal three minutes later.
The Falcons strung together three goals before junior Melina Higgins notched her first goal of the season with a helping hand from Levine at 14:48.
Lowe added another goal for Cedar Crest with just under 5:30 remaining in the game.
With 1:13 left to play, Higgins took a pass from Fisher and found the back of the net giving the Owls a 10-point lead, 17-7.
With 52 seconds still on the board, Cedar Crest's Olga Cauble tallied the final goal of the game on a free position shot.
In addition to Chrismer's three goals on the day, she scooped-up a team-best eight ground balls and caused three turnovers. Gordon-Zigel won eight draws while classmate Kate Flaming posted eight saves between the pipes for her second win of the season.
On the afternoon, the Owls were 13-for-20 on clears and won 15 draws.
The Owls are back to action on Saturday, March 24, when they host Swarthmore at 1:00 pm.
