Soccer Picks Up First Win with Shutout Against William Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. – The Bryn Mawr soccer team picked up its first win of the season, taking down William Paterson on Wednesday night.
 
Highlights:
  • Bryn Mawr (1-4) and William Paterson (2-3) were locked in a back-and-forth for the opening few minutes before the Pioneers posted the first shot of the game in the seventh minute.
  • The 13th minute saw Ciara Lalor rush down the left side, beating a defender before sending a cross through the box for Lillie Schmelz. The first year chipped the ball over the William Paterson keeper to give the Owls the lead.
  • The second half saw both sides pick up the tempo offensively, with the Pioneers posting seven shots. Silver Harris turned aside two shots on target, including a late attempt by Sophia Veloso with four minutes to play.
 
Bryn Mawr will head on the road for its next contest and Centennial Conference-opener against McDaniel on Saturday, September 19 at noon.
