Owls Battle in Road Contest

IMMACULATA, PA- Bryn Mawr fell to Immaculata 14-7 on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium. Bryn Mawr's offense started strong with three goals in the first quarter but struggled to maintain momentum, being held scoreless in the second quarter.

Immaculata capitalized on its scoring opportunities, netting five goals in both the first and second quarters to build a solid lead. Despite Bryn Mawr's efforts to rally with a player-up goal in the third quarter, Immaculata maintained control to secure the win.

How it Happened:
  • The game opened play with Annika Shankar securing the draw control, setting the tone for the quarter. Despite an initial setback when Brynn Cunningham's shot hit the post, Elliott Bishop scored the Owls' first goal at 11:48, after Isie Poff caused a turnover and picked up a ground ball. The Mighty Macs responded with three consecutive goals. Maeve DeLisle narrowed the gap with a goal at 2:40, assisted by Addy Hansen, but Immaculata maintained their lead. In a critical moment, Bishop scored a second goal with a free position shot just as the quarter ended, closing the gap to 5-3 in favor of Immaculata.
  • In the second period, Immaculata extended their lead. Despite efforts from DeLisle, who recorded a season-high total of 7 ground balls, Bryn Mawr struggled to capitalize on offensive opportunities, including a shot by Hansen that hit the post at 8:13. The Owls entered the half trailing, 10-3.
  • Bryn Mawr mounted a spirited response in the third quarter, with Bishop leading the charge, scoring two critical goals. Bishop's first goal at 8:45 was quickly followed by another at 8:25, both narrowing the gap against the home team. DeLisle contributed defensively with a key turnover early in the quarter, setting up the team for their offensive sets. Despite Bryn Mawr's push, Immaculata managed to maintain their lead, ending the quarter with a score of 13-5.
  • Hansen opened the fourth quarter with a goal at 13:39, marking her 10th of the season and narrowing the deficit. Immaculata responded with a player-up goal by at 13:05 to maintain their lead. The Owls continued to push, with Meg Halpern causing a turnover and collecting a ground ball. Hansen struck again at 1:51, securing her 11th goal of the season. Bishop won the ensuing draw control, giving Bryn Mawr possession, but the quarter concluded with no further scoring. The game ended with Immaculata ahead, 14-7.
The Owls return home on Wednesday, March 25th at 4:00 PM EST to face the visiting Gators of the College of Notre Dame Maryland. Bryn Mawr will be hosting their inaugural Apple Day, which is a celebration of Bryn Mawr's first Athletic Director, Constance MK Applebee.
