ALLENTOWN, PA — Bryn Mawr lacrosse traveled to Cedar Crest for a Wednesday evening game under the lights at the FalconPlex. Bryn Mawr's offense was led by a player-up goal in the second quarter and a total of six goals, with the Owls recording 10 shots on goal.
Maeve DeLisle led the Owls with a hattrick, followed by two goals by
Addy Hansen, and a goal by
Elliott Bishop. Yet, Cedar Crest proved to be a challenging opponent and won the game, 19-6.
How It Happened:
- The game began with Cedar Crest securing the early momentum as Demarest scored the first goal. Bryn Mawr responded swiftly with two consecutive goals by Hansen, leveling the score at 2-2. DeLisle's critical draw control and subsequent free position goal narrowed Cedar Crest's lead to 4-3. Despite these efforts, Cedar Crest maintained their edge, capitalizing on a series of Bryn Mawr caused turnovers to end the quarter ahead at 5-3.
- The Owls managed to break through Cedar Crest's defense with a player-up goal by DeLisle at 10:22, capitalizing on a free position shot. Sophomore Shannon Gonzalez attempted another shot for Bryn Mawr at 8:20, but it was saved by Cedar Crest's goalkeeper. Later in the quarter, Bishop added another free position goal for Bryn Mawr at 4:39, narrowing the gap. Despite these efforts, Cedar Crest's scoring momentum, marked by goals from Demarest and Dotter, kept the home team ahead. The quarter concluded with a score of 9-5 in favor of Cedar Crest.
- Bryn Mawr began the third quarter with a draw control by Bishop, but the sophomore did not manage to capitalize as the early shot went wide. Despite a solid effort by DeLisle, who converted a free position shot at 7:50 to put Bryn Mawr on the scoreboard, Cedar Crest maintained control with multiple goals from Demarest, including a free position goal at 5:15. The quarter concluded with the Owls trailing 15-6 as Cedar Crest extended their lead.
- In the fourth quarter, Cedar Crest's Terranova scored twice, including the quarter's opening goal at 14:23. Despite Maeve Slemko's key defensive play causing a turnover, the Owls did not manage to capitalize, with several turnovers and failed clear attempts hindering their efforts. Cedar Crest extended their lead further with a goal from Demarest at 3:50 following a free position attempt. The game concluded with Cedar Crest securing a 19-6 win.
