Volleyball Picks Up Home Sweep Over Immaculata

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr volleyball team swept Immaculata in a non-conference match inside the Class of 1958 Gymnasium on Wednesday night. The Owls took the first set 25-20 before controlling the second and third sets, 25-15 and 25-16, respectively.
 
Highlights:
  • Immaculata (3-13) took an early lead, jumping ahead to an 8-3 lead early on. A Kill from Abigail Quigley kickstarted the comeback for Bryn Mawr (5-6) as the owls went on a 13-2 run to take the 15-10 lead. After short three-run swing from the Might Macs, the home team tallied five-straight to move the score to 20-13. The Owls held off Immaculata's comeback attempt to take the opening set 25-20.
  • Six different Owls recorded kills in the first set, including Lucy Divis who notched five. Divis also posted back-to-back aces in the set.
  • Bryn Mawr was stellar from the service line to start the second half, tallying four aces en route to an early 7-2 lead. The Owls continued to increase their lead, taking a 15-5 advantage on the backs of an 8-2 run. The Mighty Macs attempted to close the gap, but a five-point run from Bryn Mawr late in the set helped guide the home team to a 25-15 set win.
  • The Owls tallied six aces in the set, with Amelia Chen and Feleicia Torrico each notching two.
  • Immaculata and Bryn Mawr traded short runs to start the third set, as the score moved to an 11-11 tie. A service error from the visitors kickstarted a 9-0 run for BMC that saw the score move to 20-11. Immaculata cut into the lead slightly, but the Owls closed out the contest, 25-16, with a four-point run.
  • Divis lead the match in kills (11) and aces (4) while posting a .292 attack percentage. Tula Reihman hit .500 on the day with 7 kills and recording four blocks. Torrico and Chen each tallied three aces in the game, contributing to the team total of 13.
 
The Owls are back in action on Saturday, October third as they host No. 23 Johns Hopkins at 1 p.m.
