CARLISLE, PA- Bryn Mawr College fell to Dickinson College, 79-33, at the Kline Center, with Dickinson securing the win by capitalizing off turnovers. However, the Owls executed on the offensive boards, collecting 17 to the Red Devils' 13.
Jenny Briggs scored a team high eight points and recorded three assists, contributing to Bryn Mawr's overall performance. On the defensive end,
Kayla Spencer added two steals while also collecting two rebounds.
Jenna Vollor provided a solid presence inside, finishing with seven rebounds and five points.
Michelle Jiang rounded out the scoring with six points and four rebounds.
How It Happened:
- Bryn Mawr opened the first quarter with a focus on defensive rebounds, securing seven, but faced challenges in maintaining possession, committing seven turnovers. Briggs contributed early, cashing in a layup at 7:36, to tie the game at 4-4. Jiang added to another bucket at 3:06, assisted by Briggs, yet the Owls struggled to keep pace with Dickinson's scoring in the paint. At the end of the frame, Bryn Mawr trailed 18-8.
- In the second quarter, Dickinson extend their lead significantly, fueled by a series of successful baskets and 3-pointers. The Owls managed to break through with a 3-pointer by Hannah Mack at 6:24, assisted by Jiang, to keep Bryn Mawr in reach. However, the Red Devils capitalized on turnovers and maintained defensive pressure, limiting Bryn Mawr's scoring opportunities throughout the quarter. As the quarter concluded, Dickinson led 43-11, leaving Bryn Mawr with a substantial gap to close to half.
- After the break, the Owls locked down defensively, collecting 12 boards to help contain Dickinson's efforts. Later in the frame, Bryn Mawr capitalized with a 3-pointer from Briggs at 3:56, part of a 7-0 run that narrowed the gap. Sydney Gelhar added a layup with 2:40 remaining, extending the scoring streak for the Owls. The Red Devils responded by leveraging their inside play, scoring 12 points in the paint, putting them ahead 58-21 at the conclusion of the third.
- The final frame saw Bryn Mawr attempting to close the gap against Dickinson. The Owls capitalized on second chances, pulling down eight offensive rebounds, with Sena Kaper-Dale cashing in two free throws early in the quarter. However, turnovers hampered their efforts, with the Red Devils taking advantage of Bryn Mawr's five turnovers to score eight points. Despite Jiang and Hannah Govert contributing to Bryn Mawr's scoring with a jumper and free throws, Dickinson maintained their momentum. The Red Devils walked away with the win, 79-33.
