COLLEGEVILLE, PA- Bryn Mawr fell to Ursinus, 72-32, at Helfferich Hall on Saturday afternoon, with the home team winning the rebounding battle with a 51-27 edge. The Owls managed to secure eight steals during the game, but Ursinus capitalized with 33 points off turnovers.
Jenny Briggs scored 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and collected four rebounds.
Jenna Vollor was perfect from the free-throw line, converting all six attempts and securing five rebounds.
Maddy Patel added eight points on 3-for-4 shooting from the field.
Cameron Richter contributed with a 3-pointer and recorded a steal.
How it Happened:
- Bryn Mawr opened the game with early momentum, securing a 5-0 lead following a pair of free throws from Vollor and a 3-pointer by Briggs, assisted by Hannah Govert. Despite this start, Ursinus responded by exploiting the inside game, scoring eight points in the paint during the frame. The Bears capitalized on Bryn Mawr's turnovers, converting them into points and taking the lead midway through the quarter. Patel's late 3-pointer and jumper helped the Owls keep the score close. However, Ursinus ended the quarter with a slight edge, leading 16-10.
- The second quarter saw Bryn Mawr focus on closing the deficit, capitalizing on defensive opportunities with three steals. Briggs sparked momentum with a mid-period jumper and a 3-pointer, contributing to the scoring effort. Although Bryn Mawr faced turnovers, the Owls managed to maintain pressure and closed the period by cutting into the Ursinus lead, ending with successful free throws from Vollor. Ursinus led 31-22 heading into the half-time break.
- Bryn Mawr faced a challenging third quarter against the Bears, marked by a series of turnovers. Michelle Jiang secured a steal at 9:47, but Ursinus scored off turnovers to extend their lead. The Owls' defense saw contributions from Vollor with a block at 7:33, yet the Bears continued to press with points in the paint and second chances. Offensively, Bryn Mawr struggled to find rhythm, connecting on only two field goals and one 3-pointer. Richter hit a three from deep at the 56-second mark, assisted by Danielle Hinton, closing the quarter with some momentum. At the end of the frame, Ursinus maintained control, with a 53-28 lead.
- In the fourth quarter, the Owls struggled find offensive flow against Ursinus, managing to score only four points. Richter contributed with a steal early in the quarter, but the team converted just one field goal out of 13 attempts. Bryn Mawr responded with three steals, the Owls were unable to stop the home team's scoring run. Ursinus converted in the paint and on fast break points, extending their lead significantly. The game ended with a final score of 72-32, with the Bears securing the win.
