NEW YORK, NY – The Bryn Mawr track & field team headed to the Armory earlier Friday to compete in the Ramapo College Season Opener for the Owls first meet of the new year.
Highlights:
- SPRINTS: The Owls placed four athletes in the 200m, led by Breia Vann-Crump, who clocked a 27.73 to finish 31st overall. She was followed by Awurabena Anane (29.37), Shelbey Lu (29.98), and sophomore Nora Hunter, who secured a personal record in 31.55. In the 400m, Mika Heshiki crossed in 1:08.11, with first-year teammate Allie Lawson finishing in 1:11.31.
- DISTANCE: The trio of Eva Ackley, Sofie Prieto, and Emma Smirk took on the 3000m, with Ackley placing 6th in 11:31.74. Prieto finished 15th in 12:02.04, while Smirk made her debut in the event, running 13:24.95 for 21st. In the 800m, recent study abroad returnee Cora Rosin finished in 2:46.19, while Alyson Bostrom recorded a personal best of 3:13.62. Rosa Carbon closed out the distance events in the mile as she placed 31st with a time of 6:11.33.
- JUMPS: Senior Jess Johnson headlined the day for the Owls, producing three top-10 finishes. Johnson placed 4th in the triple jump (10.72m), 6th in the high jump (1.48m), and 8th in the long jump (4.97m). Also competing in the long jump were Molly Fancher, returning to competition after studying abroad, who placed 19th with a leap of 4.49m, and sophomore Dahlia Nemes, who jumped 3.86m for 25th.
The Owls return to action on Saturday, January 24th for the Seamus McElligott Invitational hosted at Haverford College. Events begin at 10:30 AM.
