SCANTON, PA. – Bryn Mawr soccer put together a strong defensive effort on the road Saturday afternoon but came up just short in a 1-0 loss to Marywood at Pacers Turf Field.
Highlights:
- The Owls kept the Pacers off the board through the first 45 minutes thanks to a combination of steady defending and key saves from sophomore goalkeeper Maeve Slemko. Slemko came up big with four saves in the opening half, including back-to-back stops in the 14th and 28th minutes to preserve the scoreless draw heading into the break.
- Bryn Mawr also generated chances of its own, highlighted by shots from Rece Anton and Lourdes Sankar that tested Marywood's defense. Sarah Walker added another attempt late in the half, forcing the Pacer's keeper into action.
- Marywood broke through in the 47th minute when they found the back of the net. The Owls continued to fight, with Sankar and Walker each pushing forward in search of the equalizer. Sankar finished with a team-high three shots, including one on frame, while Walker added two shots of her own.
- Defensively, Bryn Mawr leaned on Hailey Ferrier, Lanie Thompson, and Addelyn Arroyo who logged heavy minutes in the backline, while Slemko capped her day with five total saves. Ciara Lalor and Daniela Dosen provided energy in the Owls' offensive half, disrupting Marywood's rhythm and helping the Owls earn a pair of corner kicks.
