Owls Nearly Hold McDaniel Scoreless, Best Result Since 2012

BRYN MAWR, PA – The Bryn Mawr soccer team opened the conference season with a strong performance against McDaniel on Saturday afternoon at Applebee Field, falling just 1-0. Despite the narrow defeat, the match marked the Owls' best result against the Green Terror since their 1-0 win in 2012. It was also the first time since 2019 that Bryn Mawr held McDaniel scoreless until the second half.

Highlights:
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Maeve Slemko anchored the Owls' defense, recording eight saves, including three in the first half and five after the break.
  • Bryn Mawr registered two shots in the opening half, with Beatriz da Silva creating both opportunities, including one on target in the 44th minute.
  • The Owls earned a corner in the 41st minute, applying pressure late in the first half to keep momentum even going into the break.
  • The defense held strong through 70 minutes before McDaniel's Alaina Miller scored the game's lone goal at 71:39.
  • Slemko made two more key saves in the final 20 minutes to keep the Owls within striking distance.
  • The Owls' back line consisted of Jess Johnson, Lanie Thompson, and Hailey Ferrier with Alexandra Morales and Olivia Terry both seeing time at left back to limit McDaniel's chances.
