BRYN MAWR, PA – Two first-time goal scorers powered Bryn Mawr field hockey to a 2–1 victory over Vassar on Saturday afternoon at Shillingford Field. Sophomores,
Addison Graupensperger and
Rachel Ofner, each tallied their first career goals to help the Owls improve to 4–3 on the season.
Highlights:
- After a scoreless opening quarter, Vassar broke through in the 20th minute on a goal from Sophia Jammar to take a 1–0 lead into halftime. Bryn Mawr responded quickly out of the break, as Graupensperger buried the equalizer less than two minutes into the third quarter to make it 1–1.
- With the game still level late in the fourth, Ofner delivered the game-winner at the 55:40 mark, finishing a setup from first-year Mary Stronach to put the Owls ahead for good.
- Goalkeeper Charlene Basque came up strong in the cage with six saves, including three in the third quarter, to preserve the victory.
- Bryn Mawr held a 7–10 edge in shots on goal efficiency, converting two of their five attempts, while the defense weathered 10 Vassar shots and nine penalty corners.
