COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Bryn Mawr College basketball team fought hard on the road but fell to Ursinus College, 72-43, in a Centennial Conference matchup on Wednesday night. The Owls had a strong defensive effort, forcing 16 turnovers and recording 10 steals, but the Bears' offensive efficiency proved too much to overcome.
Highlights:
- Bryn Mawr got off to a solid start, with Jessica Smith scoring early on a fast-break jumper. Hannah Mack added a layup, but Ursinus took advantage of their size inside, outscoring the Owls in the paint. At the end of the quarter, Bryn Mawr trailed 19-12.
- The Owls put together a strong response, with Michelle Jiang and Hannah Binder leading the scoring effort. A mid-quarter run brought Bryn Mawr within striking distance, and a jumper from Smith tied the game at 22-22. Ursinus responded with a series of free throws and a late basket to take a 32-26 lead into halftime.
- The Owls struggled to find their rhythm offensively, scoring just six points in the period. Ursinus capitalized on fast-break opportunities and second-chance points to extend their lead. By the end of the quarter, the Bears held a commanding 54-32 advantage.
- Bryn Mawr continued to battle, with Smith and Mack adding baskets in the final minutes. Despite the effort, Ursinus remained in control, closing out the game with a strong defense to secure the 72-43 win.
