Owls Wrap Centennial Conference Championships with a School Record

LANCASTER, PA – The Bryn Mawr Owls closed out their final day of competition at the Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday at Franklin and Marshall with a series of standout performances. It was one of the team's most successful days, as multiple Owls advanced to the finals in the afternoon session. The highlight of the day came in the 400 yard freestyle relay, where the team of Maddie Sullivan, Jane Farrell, Dalia Ibrahim, and Ellie Berry shattered the school record with an impressive time of 3:44.58.

Morning Session Highlights:
  • In the 1650 yard freestyle, Samantha Ings put in an impressive effort, finishing with a time of 18:53.90. Lexi Mireider recorded a time of 20:24.86, while Shoshana Peck touched the wall at 20:50.36, rounding out the Owls' efforts in the mile-long swim.
  • The 200 yard backstroke featured strong swims from Bryn Mawr, with Felicia Pursner leading the way, finishing in 2:21.58 and improving on her seed time. Camille Heynen followed with a time of 2:31.09, putting up a solid effort in a competitive field. Peck also competed in the event, recording a 2:42.16 to complete the Owls' presence in the backstroke prelims.
  • In the 100 yard freestyle, Ibrahim led the Owls, clocking in at 56.99, continuing her strong championship performance. Maya Madden followed with a time of 58.52, contributing another solid swim to Bryn Mawr's morning session.
  • The Owls had a strong showing in the 200 yard breaststroke, with Samantha Ings securing a spot in the finals after finishing in 2:34.48. Sullivan also advanced, posting a time of 2:36.07. Berry recorded a 2:39.69, while Kayla Bass rounded out the event and the morning for Bryn Mawr, finishing with a time of 3:07.66.
Afternoon Session Highlights:
  • The afternoon finals began with the 1650 yard freestyle, where Ings placed 10th with a time of 18:53.90. She showed steady improvement throughout the race and closed with a strong final 50 yards. Mireider secured 13th place in 20:24.86, while Peck rounded out Bryn Mawr's distance efforts, finishing 15th in 20:50.36.
  • In the 200 yard breaststroke finals, Sullivan put together a solid swim, securing 14th place with a time of 2:36.13.
  • The Owls had a strong showing in the 200 yard butterfly, where Cohn finished 11th in 2:13.85, marking the fifth fastest time in program history. Farrell also delivered a strong performance, touching in at 2:19.68 for 15th place.
  • Bryn Mawr saved its best for last in the 400 yard freestyle relay, where two relay teams etched their names into the College record books. The squad of Berry, Ibrahim, Farrell, and Sullivan set a new school record with a time of 3:44.58, securing a 7th place finish in the finals. The second group of Owls, consisting of Jackson, Ings, Cohn, and Pursner, clocked in at 3:53.13, placing 15th and earning a spot in Bryn Mawr's Top-10 fastest times in program history.
