SWARTHMORE, PA – The Bryn Mawr basketball team traveled to Swarthmore earlier Wednesday to compete in their penultimate game of the 2024-25 season. Bryn Mawr put together a strong second-half effort, but they did not overcome the significant lead that the Garnet had amassed in the first half, bringing the final score to 67-34.
Jessica Smith led the Owls with 17 points, six steals, and six rebounds, while the team forced 12 steals and committed just one turnover in the fourth quarter.
Highlights:
- In the first quarter, Bryn Mawr struggled to find their offensive rhythm, shooting just 1-for-15 from the field and scoring only four points. Swarthmore took advantage, dominating the paint with 16 points and building a 21-4 lead.
- The second quarter saw the Owls improve defensively, forcing five turnovers, but offensive struggles continued as they managed just one point on a free throw. Swarthmore extended their lead to 43-5 at halftime.
- The Owls found their stride in the third quarter, outscoring Swarthmore 13-10. Hannah Mack hit the team's only three-pointer, and Bryn Mawr shot 38% from the field, their best percentage of the game. The Owls also stepped up defensively, forcing multiple turnovers to slow Swarthmore's attack.
- Bryn Mawr's momentum carried into the fourth quarter, where they had their best offensive stretch, scoring 16 points. The Owls controlled the turnover battle, forcing six steals while committing just one turnover. Smith continued to lead the way, scoring five second-half field goals and knocking down two free throws.
