BRYN MAWR, PA - The Bryn Mawr Owls put up a valiant fight against the McDaniel Green Terror in Centennial Conference action at the Class of 1958 Gymnasium earlier Saturday. Despite a strong second-quarter surge, the Owls ultimately fell short, losing 59-45. Prior to the game, the Owls celebrated their four seniors:
Jessica Smith,
Hannah Binder,
Kris Pasia, and
Sena Kaper-Dale. Smith led the way for Bryn Mawr with a double-double, tallying 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Highlights:
- McDaniel jumped out to a fast start in the first quarter, scoring 19 points while holding Bryn Mawr to just six. The Green Terror controlled the paint, outscoring the Owls 18-2 in that area. Despite a three-pointer by Pasia, Bryn Mawr gave McDaniel extra opportunities to extend their lead after a handful of turnovers.
- The Owls responded with an impressive 16-point second quarter, led by Smith's aggressive play inside. A strong defensive effort forced McDaniel into several turnovers, allowing Bryn Mawr to close the gap. The Owls took their first lead of the game at 22-21 before McDaniel regained control before halftime.
- In the third quarter, McDaniel erupted for 26 points, overwhelming the Owls with their transition offense. The Green Terror capitalized on second-chance opportunities, pulling down multiple offensive rebounds.
- Bryn Mawr fought hard in the final frame, outscoring McDaniel in the closing minutes. Smith continued to lead the charge, finishing the game with five steals to go along with her scoring effort.
