BRYN MAWR, PA- Bryn Mawr defeated Penn St. Brandywine 58-50 Thursday night, with a dominant 54-42 rebounding advantage at the Class of 1958 Gymnasium. The game was a back-and-forth battle with nine lead changes and six ties.
How it Happened:
- Bryn Mawr started strong in the first quarter, showcasing solid defense with three steals and a block. Hannah Mack's layup, followed by a free throw, gave the team a brief lead. Jenny Briggs added to the momentum with a 3-pointer at 4:39, assisted by Hannah Govert, pushing the home team ahead. Penn St. Brandywine managed to level the game briefly, but the Owls' defensive rebounding kept them in check. The quarter concluded with Bryn Mawr leading 12-9, setting a competitive tone for the game.
- Bryn Mawr began the second quarter with a narrow lead, but Penn St. Brandywine quickly shifted momentum by capitalizing on turnovers and missed opportunities. Despite a strong defensive effort from Bryn Mawr, highlighted by Kayla Spencer's three rebounds, Penn St. Brandywine managed to tie the game at 22 with a 3-pointer midway through the quarter.
- Evie Vigdor briefly restored the lead for Bryn Mawr with her first career 3-pointer finding its way through the net off a kick out by Briggs, but the Nittany Lions responded with a five-point scoring run, taking advantage of fast breaks and second-chance points. A late layup by Michelle Jiang provided a needed boost, but the Owls trailed 28-24 heading into the halftime break.
- Bryn Mawr commenced the third quarter with a quick rally, capitalizing on a steal by Mack to score a fast-break layup. A pivotal moment occurred when Mack drained a three-pointer at 6:52, setting off an eight-point run for the Owls. The junior guard finished the night with 14 points and four rebounds. The Nittany Lions responded with a run of their own to take a one-point lead at the end of the frame.

Bryn Mawr continued to capitalize on Penn St. Brandywine's turnovers, with Sydney Gelhar's layup at 6:16 extending the lead. Briggs added crucial points late with free throws at the 7-second mark, and the Owls flew away with the victory, 58-50.
