Owls Drop 2-0 Game at Haverford

HAVERFORD, PA – The Bryn Mawr soccer team hit the road Wednesday afternoon for their third Centennial Conference away game of the season against rival Haverford College. Despite a strong defensive showing through the first half and consistent midfield pressure, the Owls ultimately fell 2-0 on Walton Field.

Game Highlights:
  • Haverford proved strong from the start with three shots and two corner kicks in the opening twenty minutes of the game, yet Bryn Mawr goalkeeper Lily Blackman thwarted all scoring chances with two key saves.
  • Rece Anton recorded the Owls' first shot of the day in the 34th minute, narrowly missing high, as the Owls fought off four Haverford corners to keep the game scoreless through halftime.
  • The deadlock broke in the 71st minute when Haverford's Sophia Mitchell scored off a cross from Olivia Daulerio, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
  • Haverford doubled their advantage seven minutes later, as Vilena Tchernychev found the back of the net with help from Emma Kirk off a corner kick.
  • Bryn Mawr's attack pressed late, earning their third corner in the 82nd minute. Shots from Hailey Ferrier, Adelynn Arroyo, and Alexandra Morales came close but didn't find the frame.
The Owls will return home on Saturday for a 1:00 PM EST matchup against conference opponent Gettysburg College. Tune into the game live on gobrynmawr.com and follow @bmcathletics on social media to stay up to date with your favorite Bryn Mawr teams!
