Bryn Mawr Takes on No. 15 Franklin & Marshall in Final Home Match of the Season

BRYN MAWR, PA- The Bryn Mawr field hockey team closed out its 2025 home slate with a hard-fought match-up against nationally ranked No. 15 Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday afternoon at Shillingford Field. Despite a strong defensive effort and a standout performance in goal, the Owls fell 2-0 to the Diplomats in their final home contest of the regular season.

Highlights:
  • Franklin & Marshall capitalized early, finding the back of the cage just over three minutes into the game off a penalty corner. The Owls' defense quickly settled in, limiting the Diplomats' opportunities. Senior goalkeeper Charlene Basque stood strong in the cage for the home team, turning away multiple point-blank chances to keep Bryn Mawr within striking distance.
  • In the third quarter, Bryn Mawr generated its strongest stretch of offense. Carrie Povich helped spark momentum by earning a pair of penalty corners, setting up quality looks for seniors Annick Van Blerkom and Maggie Barilla, both of whom forced saves from the F&M keeper. Mary Stronach and Camille Heynen each added attempts that narrowly missed the target as the Owls pushed to tie it up.
  • Basque continued to shine in goal, tallying 13 total saves, including six in a busy fourth quarter and marking the second highest of her career. The Diplomats eventually doubled their lead in the final minutes to secure the win.
  • Bryn Mawr finished the afternoon with eight total shots and three corners. The Owls' defensive unit, led by Barilla, Zoe Woon, and Sophie Chung, were pivotal in limiting the visitor's attack.
Bryn Mawr field hockey turns their attention to their last game of the regular season on Saturday, November 1st against the Bullets of Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA.
