Bryn Mawr Falls to Ursinus in Straight Sets

BRYN MAWR, PA — Bryn Mawr Volleyball welcomed Ursinus College to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium for another conference match-up on Friday evening. Despite strong serving and an early lead in the first set, the Owls fell in straight sets, 25-15, 25-12, 25-9.

Highlights:
  • The first set opened with Ursinus taking an early lead through a series of kills, putting the Bears ahead 2-0. Bryn Mawr responded through Joelle Wise and Emma Loller, closing the gap to 4-4 thanks to two service aces by Saya Feldman. Feldman, who led the team on Friday with eight digs and three service aces, was instrumental in Bryn Mawr's defensive efforts. The visitors regained momentum, extending their lead to 11-7 with service aces from Lauren McGinn, despite a strong block by Elise Perry and Loller.
  • Bryn Mawr continued to press, with Amanda Hughes and Julia Zimmerman-Boyer adding points, but Ursinus capitalized on several service aces, widening the gap to 19-11. Feldman delivered another service ace late in the set, but Ursinus maintained their lead, ultimately closing the set at 25-15.
  • Bryn Mawr faced challenges in the second set as Ursinus capitalized on early momentum. Despite an initial kill by Loller, which put Bryn Mawr on the board, Ursinus maintained control through a series of service aces and kills. Bryn Mawr's effort included a service ace from Loller and a kill by Lyra Aubry, but their attempts were offset by Ursinus' consistent scoring. The set concluded with Ursinus extending their lead to 25-12, wrapping up the set.
  • In the final frame, Bryn Mawr attempted to regain momentum early with a kill by Hughes, assisted by Charlotte Mullen, narrowing Ursinus's lead to 2-1. Following a service error by Ursinus, Loller delivered a kill and an Ursinus attack error helped Bryn Mawr level the score at 5-5. However, a series of service aces and kills from Ursinus extended the visitors' lead, creating a decisive gap. Despite Bryn Mawr's efforts, Ursinus maintained control and completed the set with a 25-9 victory.
